Baseball Recap: Benton Comes Up Short

Benton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Frankfort Redbirds. The Rangers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Redbirds from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Benton saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Peyton Robinson, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-4. Trey Severin was another, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Benton's loss dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Frankfort, the victory snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 2-7 record.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Benton is set to face off against their familiar foe Pinckneyville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Frankfort will take on rival Anna-Jonesboro at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
