Softball Recap: Iota Extends Winning Streak to Five

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Iota). They were the clear victor by a 16-2 margin over the DeRidder Dragons on Wednesday. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by eight runs or more this season.

Iota got a massive performance out of Addison Cormier, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-3. Cormier has been hot recently, having also posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Chloe Bordelon was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 3-for-3.

Iota was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .464. The last time their batting average was this high was back in February of 2024.

The victory (which was Iota's fifth in a row) raised their record to 10-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for DeRidder, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6.

Looking ahead, Iota will be taking part in a tournament against Doyle at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Iota's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Doyle's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for DeRidder, they will head out on the road to square off against Iowa at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. DeRidder has given up an average of 10.3 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
