Baseball Recap: Centennial Triumphs

While Centennial's win against Gadsden wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Hawks beat the Panthers on Monday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 2-1. The victory continues a trend for the Hawks in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won nine in a row.

Gilberto Torres made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.

Centennial's record now sits at 13-5. As for Gadsden, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-12-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Centennial beat the Panthers by a score of 13-3 on Thursday.
