Baseball Game Preview: Belfry Pirates vs. West Carter Comets

The Belfry Pirates are taking a road trip to challenge the West Carter Comets at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Belfry is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Thursday as neither Belfry nor Sherman made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Pirates narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Tide 5-3. The victory was familiar territory for the Pirates, who have now won three games in a row.

Dante Davis was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Varney, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, West Carter was able to grind out a solid win over Nicholas County on Thursday, taking the game 7-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Comets.

West Carter now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Belfry, their record is now 11-4.

Belfry came up short against West Carter in their previous matchup back in April of 2019, falling 5-0. Can the Pirates avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
