Baseball Game Preview: Mountain Crest Mustangs vs. Sky View Bobcats

For the second straight game, Mountain Crest will face off against Sky View. The Mustangs will take on the Bobcats at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Mountain Crest is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They put the hurt on Sky View with a sharp 11-1 win. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by six runs or more this season.

Kayden Cullimore made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Mason Smith and Ryder Bradford did most of the damage at the plate: Smith got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Bradford went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one double. Jackson Pearce was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Mountain Crest always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. The last time their OBP was this high was back in May of 2024.

Mountain Crest pushed their record up to 16-7 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Sky View, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-17.
