Kearny took a 15-run loss the last time they faced off against Monte Vista, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Komets skirted past the Monarchs 12-11. That's two games straight that the Komets have won by just one run.

Kearny's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-9. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Monte Vista, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Looking ahead, Kearny will face off against Hoover at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Komets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cardinals have averaged an impressive 8.8 runs per game this season. As for Monte Vista, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 17-1 defeat against Southwest SD on the 19th.
