Baseball Recap: Broadwater Academy's Winning Streak Snapped at Three Games

After some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last three games, Broadwater Academy finally came back down to earth on Monday. They fell 4-1 to the Isle of Wight Academy Chargers. The Vikings' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Eli Destro put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 6.1 innings while giving up four earned runs off seven hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one double.

Destro wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Chris 'Chai' Ames, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Broadwater Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5-1. As for Isle of Wight Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Broadwater Academy will take on StoneBridge at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Isle of Wight Academy, they will challenge Grace Christian School at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
