Basketball Recap: Friday's Victory Is Raymondville's Seventh in Last Nine Outings

Santa Rosa came into Friday's game looking for another win against Raymondville, but Adaleigh Knight wouldn't allow it. The Raymondville Bearkats skirted past the Santa Rosa Warriors 52-49 thanks in part to Knight, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 12 boards. That makes it 18 consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Raymondville's points.

Santa Rosa lost on Friday despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Amber Mendoza, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. Those 17 points gave Mendoza a new career-high. Aiden Garcia was another key player, putting up ten points in addition to six assists and five steals.

Raymondville is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a massive bump to their 14-13 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to offensive rebounds: they averaged an imposing 10.93 offensive boards in those games compared to only 10.93 in the others. As for Santa Rosa, their loss dropped their record down to 20-9.

Raymondville didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 63-17 victory against IDEA Riverview on the 3rd. Santa Rosa has also already played their next game, a 51-18 win against IDEA Sports Park on the 3rd.
