Maconaquah waltzed into their game on Saturday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Pike Red Devils. This was payback for the Braves, who suffered a 2-1 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Nekane Hernandez paced Maconaquah's offense, picking up 11 kills. Hernandez got some help from Delaney Betzner and her 14 assists. Betzner was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Pike lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Justice King, who had six digs and three assists.

Maconaquah's victory bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Pike, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.

Maconaquah will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Lewis Cass at 7:00 p.m. on September 4. As for Pike, they will face off against Ben Davis at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The match will give the Red Devils their first taste of in-conference action this season.
