Recap: Phillipsburg Stateliners vs. Parsippany Hills Vikings
The Phillipsburg Stateliners scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They walked away with a 74-64 victory over Parsippany Hills. The win was familiar territory for Phillipsburg who now have eight in a row.
Phillipsburg's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Matthew Scerbo Jr., who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Scerbo Jr. pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Martin, who scored 19 points along with six assists and six rebounds.
Phillipsburg pushed their record up to 8-1 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.3 points per game. As for Parsippany Hills, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Phillipsburg will square off against Ridge at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Ridge is coming into the game hot, having won their last seven games. As for Parsippany Hills, they will head out on the road to face off against Parsippany at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Parsippany will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New Jersey Rankings (they are ranked 325th, while Parsippany Hills is ranked 54th).
