Football Preview: Eldred Yellowjackets vs. Onteora Eagles

Eldred didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Nathan Kinne and McGill. McGill is also on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in each of the last three games he's played.

Meanwhile, on Saturday Onteora's undefeated season almost came to an end. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Taconic Hills 32-30.

Eldred better focus on containing Jameer Maize and Chase Matteson as the pair were huge in Onteora's win. Maize gained 185 total yards and a touchdown, while Matteson rushed for 53 yards and one TD. Maize didn't just play on offense: he also made four total tackles and defended one pass. Kyle Berryann was in the mix as well, providing Onteora with three touchdowns.

Onteora's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB four times. The heavy lifting was done by Martin Berhman and Matteson, who racked up all four sacks between them. Berhman also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with seven. Berryann got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
