Basketball Recap: Yerington Victorious

Yerington won the last time they faced Sierra Lutheran and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Yerington Lions snuck past the Sierra Lutheran Falcons with a 58-54 win.

It was another big night for Kenneth Picotte, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Colby Rowe, who posted 13 points and eight rebounds.

Yerington smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

When it comes to explaining why Sierra Lutheran lost, don't look at John Salonites. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 17 points and 16 boards. Another player making a difference was Devon Granata, who had 12 points and eight rebounds.

Yerington's record is now 9-5. As for Sierra Lutheran, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Incline the next time they take the court. Sierra Lutheran will host Incline at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, while Yerington will host them at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
