Basketball Game Preview: Wheatley Wildcats vs. North Forest Bulldogs

Wheatley has gone 8-2 against North Forest recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Wheatley Wildcats will challenge the North Forest Bulldogs at 7:15 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Wheatley is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Kashmere: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Wheatley blew Kashmere out of the water with an 81-13 final score. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 523rd, while the Fighting Rams are ranked 1506th), the result on Wednesday wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Caria Thomas, who almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine steals. That's the most steals she has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Aniya Simmons, who posted seven points along with 11 rebounds and seven assists.

Wheatley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 28 consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask North Forest). They simply couldn't be stopped on Monday as they easily beat Scarborough 62-2. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Bulldogs with their most commanding win of the season.

Wheatley pushed their record up to 15-2 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.2 points per game. As for North Forest, the win got them back to even at 6-6.

Everything came up roses for Wheatley against North Forest when the teams last played back in November of 2024, as the squad secured a 93-29 victory. In that game, Wheatley amassed a halftime lead of 57-17, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
