Soccer Recap: Sunnyside Wins High-Profile Matchup Against Arizona College Prep

On Saturday, Sunnyside faced Arizona College Prep in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Everything went the Sunnyside Blue Devils' way against the Arizona College Prep Knights as the Sunnyside Blue Devils made off with a 5-1 victory. Considering the Blue Devils have won six matchups by more than three goals this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

They hit Arizona College Prep with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Johan Jimenez (3), Ruben Arballo, and Angel Bracamontes Pulido.

The win was the sixth in a row for Sunnyside, bringing their record for this year to 10-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 33 goals over those six contests. As for Arizona College Prep, the defeat snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 6-4 record.

Sunnyside and Hamilton will round out the year against one another at at 9:00 a.m. on Monday. Sunnyside knows how to get goals on the board -- the team has finished with four goals or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Hamilton likes a good challenge. As for Arizona College Prep, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Williams Field at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Williams Field's last three matches have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
