Basketball Recap: Five Straight Home Wins for Millard North

Millard North and Millard South faced off in a cross-town battle on Friday. The Millard North Mustangs came out on top against the Millard South Patriots by a score of 41-30. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 56-48 back in December of 2024.

Millard North had a senior duo take command as Avril Smith dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds and Kate Stevens posted 12 points. Smith has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times she's played.

When it comes to explaining why Millard South lost, don't look at Abbi Durow. Despite the final result, she put up 11 points and four steals. With that strong performance, Durow is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. Another player making a difference was Aubrey Carder, who earned seven points and nine boards.

Millard North pushed their record up to 11-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.6 points per game. As for Millard South, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 9-5 record.

When Millard North and Millard South next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Millard North will challenge Omaha Westside and their four-game winning streak at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, Millard South will try to stop Millard West's 11-game winning streak when the meet at 5:30 p.m. on January 24th.
