Basketball Game Preview: Newcomb Skyhawks vs. Thoreau Hawks

Newcomb is 1-9 against Thoreau since December of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Newcomb Skyhawks just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Thoreau Hawks at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Monday, Newcomb didn't have too much trouble with Zuni as they won 64-49. The Skyhawks pushed the score to 49-28 by the end of the third, a deficit the Thunderbirds cut but never quite recovered from.

Meanwhile, Thoreau waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came within a single point of losing the streak, but they secured a 42-41 W against the Eagles.

Thoreau's win came from a few key players Newcomb will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kayliegh Dodge, who posted 13 points. Another player making a difference was Madison Woodie, who earned ten points.

Newcomb's record is now 17-10. As for Thoreau, their record now sits at 14-12.

Newcomb came up short against Thoreau in their previous meeting on February 4th, falling 34-30. Can Newcomb avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
