Softball Recap: R.A. Long's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

R.A. Long's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Washougal Panthers, sneaking past 4-3. The win was some much needed relief for the Lumberjacks as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.

Stevie Jones (2027) made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. Jones (2027) was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Jones (2027) wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Edie Korpi (2026), who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

R.A. Long's victory bumped their record up to 5-8. As for Washougal, their loss was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-10.

Looking ahead, R.A. Long will challenge Hockinson at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Washougal, they will square off against Hudson's Bay at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 24.9 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
