Softball Recap: New Fairfield Comes Up Short

Monday just wasn't the day for New Fairfield's offense. They came up short against the Newtown Nighthawks on Monday, falling 9-0. The Rebels' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

New Fairfield saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gianna Garofola, who went 1-for-3 with one triple. That triple was Garofola's first of the season.

New Fairfield's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Newtown, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3.

Looking ahead, New Fairfield will face off against Bethel at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.33 runs per game on average), something the Rebels will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Newtown, they will challenge Shepaug Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
