Volleyball Recap: Greendale Panthers vs. Pewaukee Pirates

Greendale was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Pewaukee Pirates. If the Panthers were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Pirates when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Greendale actually scored more points across those five sets (113-109), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The match finished with set scores of 17-25, 25-23, 27-25, 24-26, 16-14.

Xavier Zimmerman paced Greendale's offense, picking up 35 kills. Zimmerman got some help from Jakup Ademi and his 52 assists. Finally, Nolan Dihn kept Greendale's defense grounded, leading the team with six blocks.

Leading Pewaukee to victory were Sawyer Hake and Grant Conrad. Hake had 17 digs and four aces, while Conrad had 23 assists and five digs. Those 23 assists gave Conrad a new career-high.

Greendale's record is now 1-12. As for Pewaukee, with the victory, they broke their four-match losing streak and moved their record to 10-15.

Greendale has already played their next matchup, a 3-1 win against Hmong American Peace Academy on the 2nd. As for Pewaukee, they will square off against Martin Luther at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
