Softball Recap: Kennett Continues Home Dominance on Thursday

There's no place like home for Kennett, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They never let the Oran Eagles get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory on Thursday. Considering the Indians have won 19 games by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Handley McAtee made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over four innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Kynsly McCaig was a standout: she got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Lynnley Patterson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Kennett's win was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Oran, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-8.

Coming up, Kennett will head out to face off against McCracken County at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Oran, they will host New Madrid County Central at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
