Recap: Jackson Aggies vs. Leroy Bears

The Jackson Aggies have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 21 points or more this season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Leroy 70-30 at home. 70 seems to be a good number for Jackson as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.

Leading Jackson to victory were Keeyun Chapman and Micah Caster. Chapman scored 12 points along with nine rebounds and five blocks, while Caster scored 20 points along with seven rebounds. The matchup was Caster's 14th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Hill, who scored nine points along with six rebounds.

Leroy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Taylor Crumedy, who scored six points along with five rebounds and four steals. Ray Phillips was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Leroy were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jackson only pulled down 20 offensive rebounds.

Jackson's victory was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-2. As for Leroy, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jackson won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Hillcrest at 7:30 p.m. on January 6th. Hillcrest knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 14 matches -- so hopefully Jackson likes a good challenge. As for Leroy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Southern Choctaw at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Southern Choctaw and Leroy are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
