Softball Recap: Alva Comes Up Short

Alva entered their matchup against Perry on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Goldbugs fell just short of the Maroons by a score of 4-2. The Goldbugs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Maroons earlier this season, when they won 4-2.

Trinity Stevens spent all 11 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on 16 hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Asia Blackledge was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-5 with one home run and two RBI.

Alva's loss dropped their record down to 19-9. As for Perry, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 17-14.

Coming up, Alva will head out to face off against Enid at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Perry, they will take on Crescent at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Maroons 3.7, the Tigers 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
