Basketball Game Preview: Rustburg Red Devils vs. Amherst County Lancers

The Rustburg Red Devils will head out to face off against the Amherst County Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Wednesday, Rustburg ended up a good deal behind Liberty Christian and lost 70-52.

Meanwhile, Amherst County was not able to break out of their rough patch last Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They took a 61-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of Charlottesville.

Rustburg will have to contain Holt Bresach as he made an impact in Amherst County's last game. He went 5 of 12 on his way to 16 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. The dominant performance gave Bresach a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Jackson, who posted four points.

Rustburg's loss ended a 12-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-3. As for Amherst County, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-9.

Everything came up roses for Rustburg against Amherst County in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as the team secured a 77-50 victory. In that match, Rustburg amassed a halftime lead of 43-15, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
