Softball Recap: Whitney Young Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Whitney Young can now relate to. They fell just short of the Maine South Hawks by a score of 7-6 on Friday. The Dolphins have struggled against the Hawks recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Emily Rodriguez and Sarah Alvarez stepped up to the plate in a big way. Rodriguez went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run, while Alvarez went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Itzel Jaime, who went 1-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base.

Whitney Young's loss dropped their record down to 17-11. As for Maine South, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-13.

Whitney Young does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Maine South, they will challenge Taft at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Hawks' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
