Basketball Recap: The Academy Finds Playoff Glory Versus Holy Family

With a playoff win on the line, The Academy rose to the challenge on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Holy Family Tigers, sneaking past 59-57. The victory was familiar territory for the Wildcats, who have now won three matchups in a row.

The Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Trey Boychuk led the charge by going 7-for-14 on his way to 22 points. Boychuk is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Dominik Konarski, who shot 67% from the field en route to 17 points.

Loss or not, Holy Family got some senior leadership from Matthew Napierkowski and Roman Elliott. Napierkowski made all 7 shots he took to post 21 points and six boards, while Elliott posted 18 points and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Napierkowski has scored all season.

The Academy's win bumped their record up to 14-11. As for Holy Family, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-10.

The Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 79-69 loss against Kent Denver on the 12th. Holy Family does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
