Softball Game Preview: Sparta Spartans vs. Reeths-Puffer Rockets

The Sparta Spartans will challenge the Reeths-Puffer Rockets at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.

Sparta lost 12-2 to Jenison on Saturday. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Sparta saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ali Crum, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Reeths-Puffer had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over Northview on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Rockets in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won six in a row.

Lainey McDaniel spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up 15 Ks.

Sparta now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Reeths-Puffer, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
