Softball Recap: Plano West Now 7-1 over Last Eight Games

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Plano West ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Plano East Panthers by a score of 6-5 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 8-0 back in February.

Marlee Flanigan spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on ten hits. Those hits were her first of the season.

On the hitting side, Plano West got a big performance out of Isabella Dunn, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Another player making a difference was Elyse Mikes, who scored a run while going 2-for-5.

Plano West is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. Plano East's record now sits at 16-8.

Plano West will have a chance to go back-to-back against Plano East: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
