Softball Recap: Avon Grove Continues Home Dominance on Friday

Avon Grove came tearing into Friday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Owen J. Roberts Wildcats a 1-0 shutout.

Not much got past Elle Burns, who gave up just eight hits to keep Owen J. Roberts off the board. Burns has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Michaela Sycalik, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one double. Another player making a difference was Gabby Beltran, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
