Basketball Recap: Amaar Ibrahim Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Uplift

Uplift typically has all the answers at home, but on Thursday MCC proved too difficult a challenge. They managed a 70-64 win over the Uplift Titans. The Crescents pushed the score to 57-37 by the end of the third, a deficit the Titans cut but never quite recovered from.

MCC's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Amaar Ibrahim, who went 6 of 11 en route to 18 points along with eight assists and six boards. The dominant performance gave Ibrahim a new career-high in assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Ibrahim Shaik, who went 7 for 11 on his way to 16 points and three steals.

Despite the defeat, Uplift saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Tysean Davis posted 32 points. Those 32 points set a new season-high mark for Davis. Michael White was another key player, putting up 14 points.

MCC's record now sits at 7-11. As for Uplift, their loss dropped their record down to 12-3.

MCC didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 68-46 win against Islamic Foundation on the 31st. Uplift has also already played their next game, a 52-50 victory against Kelvyn Park on the 3rd.
