Basketball Recap: Platte Canyon Takes a Loss

Platte Canyon lost against Arrupe Jesuit back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Platte Canyon Huskies were outmatched by the Arrupe Jesuit Generals and fell 78-46. The Huskies were down 63-33 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Despite the loss, Platte Canyon saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jack Walsh posted 11 points. Those 11 points set a new season-high mark for Walsh. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Tanner, who had six points and nine rebounds.

Even though they lost, Platte Canyon smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in four consecutive matches.

Louie Garcia continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Arrupe Jesuit, going 7 of 12 on his way to 24 points. Manuel Loya was another key player, going 7 for 17 en route to 18 points.

Platte Canyon's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Arrupe Jesuit, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-2.

Platte Canyon didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 58-54 loss against Lake County on the 15th. Arrupe Jesuit has also already played their next game, a 71-34 win against Sheridan on the 16th.
