It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Lindsay had no problem doing just that on Friday. They took down the Chatsworth Chancellors 35-20. Winning may never get old, but the Cardinals sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Lindsay got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jose Cortes out in front who rushed for 148 yards and two touchdowns. Cortes' rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 137 rushing yards. Lindsay also got a significant boost from Ethan Cortes, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 125 yards.
Jose was just one part of a punishing run game: Lindsay was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 332 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 223 rushing yards in five consecutive contests.
Lindsay's victory bumped their record up to 10-5. As for Chatsworth, with the loss, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-6.
Lindsay will be playing in front of their home fans against Moreau Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Moreau Catholic will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Lindsay surely won't give up without a fight. Chatsworth does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
