Football Recap: Marcus Starts Season with Win Against Keller + How To Watch

Marcus had to kick off their season on the road on Thursday, but they showed no ill effects. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Keller Indians, sneaking past 31-28. That's more bragging rights for the Marauders, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Colton Nussmeier went supernova, rushing for 88 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries, while also throwing for 181 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 74.1% of his passes. Those 88 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

Several Indians players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brock Burkett, who rushed for 83 yards and two scores, and also threw for 119 yards on seven of 13 attempts. A healthy portion of Burkett's aerial production (85 yards to be exact) went to Ralph Crosby.

Coming up, Marcus will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Arlington at 7:00 p.m. on September 5. As for Keller, they are taking a road trip to challenge Bowie at 7:00 p.m. on September 5.
