 After losing to Charlestown the last time they met, Washington decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Washington Hatchets came out on top in a nail-biter against the Charlestown Pirates  on Saturday and snuck past  7-6. The  win made it back-to-back  victories for Washington.
 Washington got a great performance from  Mattox Hinkle as he  tossed six innings while giving up  three earned  (and three unearned) runs off   ten  hits.
 On the hitting side,  Trey James and  John Chapman did most of the damage at the plate:  James  scored two  runs while going 2-for-4, while  Chapman  scored a  run while going 2-for-4.
 On Charlestown's side,  Boomer Hester made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and  scored a  run while going 3-for-4.
 Washington is  on a roll lately: they've  won three of their last four matchups,  which provided a massive bump to their 3-4 record  this season. As for Charlestown, they now  have a losing record at 2-3.
 Washington will look to defend their home field  on Tuesday against Mt. Vernon at 6:30  p.m. As for Charlestown, they will head out on the road to  challenge  Jennings County at 3:30  p.m.  on Saturday. Charlestown is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 7  runs per game this season.
