Basketball Game Preview: South Brunswick Cougars vs. Hoggard Vikings

South Brunswick is 0-10 against Hoggard since January of 2020 but things could change on Wednesday. Having just played yesterday, the South Brunswick Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the Hoggard Vikings at 6:30 p.m.

South Brunswick is headed into Wednesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their tenth straight game on Tuesday. They took a 50-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of Ashley.

Meanwhile, Hoggard entered their tilt with North Brunswick on Tuesday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They walked away with a 58-46 win over the Scorpions. The Vikings pushed the score to 53-31 by the end of the third, a deficit the Scorpions cut but never quite recovered from.

Hoggard pushed their record up to 14-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.0 points per game. As for South Brunswick, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-11.

South Brunswick might still be hurting after the 76-50 loss they got from Hoggard in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Thankfully for South Brunswick, Josiah Gillespie (who went 7 for 8 en route to 17 points and seven boards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
