Softball Recap: Corning Gets the Win

Corning's game on Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over the Anderson Cubs. The victory continues a trend for the Cardinals in their matchups with the Cubs: they've now won three in a row.

Makayla Lodin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on three hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Sienna Munoz was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lillian Reilly, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Corning hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 2-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Corning's win bumped their record up to 6-10. As for Anderson, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-5-1 record this season.

Corning will challenge Enterprise at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Anderson, they will face off against Redding Christian at 2:00 p.m. on Monday.
