Baseball Game Preview: Grand Valley Mustangs vs. Mathews Mustangs

Grand Valley will take on Mathews at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Grand Valley has seven straight victories, Mathews has seven straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Last Wednesday, Grand Valley made easy work of Badger and carried off a 15-6 win. Considering the Mustangs have won seven matchups by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Mathews couldn't beat McDonald on Wednesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the fourth inning. The Mustangs came up short against the Blue Devils, falling 16-4.

Grand Valley pushed their record up to 10-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Mathews, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-11.

Everything went Grand Valley's way against Mathews in their previous meeting back in April, as Grand Valley made off with a 9-3 victory. Will Grand Valley repeat their success, or does Mathews has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
