Basketball Game Preview: Franklinton Red Rams vs. Nash Central Bulldogs

Franklinton is 6-0 against Nash Central since December of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Franklinton Red Rams will look to defend their home court against the Nash Central Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. Franklinton is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.2 points per game this season.

While Franklinton didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They managed a 59-54 victory over Roanoke Rapids on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Red Rams.

Kirby Ransom was his usual excellent self, putting up 20 points and six rebounds. His evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Nicholas Hayes, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Nash Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 13th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 54-49 heartbreaker at the hands of Southern Nash. While the Bulldogs didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Firebirds 24-16 in the first quarter.

Franklinton is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. As for Nash Central, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.

Everything came up roses for Franklinton against Nash Central when the teams last played back in January, as the team secured a 62-32 win. Does Franklinton have another victory up their sleeve, or will Nash Central turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
