While Kentlake didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past the Federal Way Eagles 16-6 on Wednesday. Considering the Falcons have won five games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Josie Pedeferri was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Jasmine Demecilio also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Kentlake was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
The win made it two in a row for Kentlake and bumps their season record up to 6-3. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Federal Way, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kentlake will venture away from home to take on Decatur at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Falcons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Golden Gators have averaged an impressive 12.8 runs per game this season. As for Federal Way, they will challenge Enumclaw at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Hornets will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight.
