Volleyball Recap: Cypress Creek Comes Up Short

Cypress Creek entered their match against Freedom on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Bears fell 2-0 to the Patriots. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Patriots this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in March.

Cypress Creek might've come up short, but they didn't make it easy on Freedom: every set was decided by three points or less. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-22.

Franklin Calix paced Cypress Creek's offense, picking up 13 kills. Calix got some help from Kidiel Maldonado and his 27 assists. Finally, Tuan Ly kept Cypress Creek's defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.

Cypress Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 9-2. As for Freedom, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season.

Cypress Creek will square off against Timber Creek at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Wolves will roll in looking for their 21st straight win, something the Bears surely won't give up without a fight. As for Freedom, they will face off against Winter Park at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
