Basketball Recap: St. Petersburg Catholic's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Tuesday

St. Petersburg Catholic lost against Clearwater Central Catholic back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The contest between the St. Petersburg Catholic Barons and the Clearwater Central Catholic Marauders didn't end well, with the St. Petersburg Catholic Barons falling 45-28. The Barons' defeat signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

St. Petersburg Catholic's loss came despite strong showings from Kinsley Spoor and Isabella Messina. Spoor posted two points along with 15 boards and eight blocks, while Messina went 5 for 10 en route to 14 points. Those 14 points gave Messina a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Savannah Brown, who scored five points and four steals.

Emme Dalhoff continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Clearwater Central Catholic, putting up 12 points in addition to five assists and five steals. Dalhoff is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Julia Comfort was another key player, earning five points along with seven rebounds and six steals.

St. Petersburg Catholic's loss ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 14-8. As for Clearwater Central Catholic, their victory was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-4.

St. Petersburg Catholic has already played their next game, a 47-44 win against Dunedin on the 22nd. As for Clearwater Central Catholic, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 49-16 victory against Admiral Farragut on the 22nd.
