Volleyball Recap: Mercer Island Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Mercer Island suffered their biggest defeat since October 28, 2024 on Thursday. They lost 3-0 to the Issaquah Eagles. The loss continues a trend for the Islanders in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost three in a row.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-19, 25-16.

Aikum Bains paced Mercer Island's offense, picking up six kills. Bains got some help from Ava Imbesi and her 14 assists.

Leading Issaquah to victory were Casey Kot and Zoe Bloch. Kot had 14 digs and five aces, while Bloch had nine assists and two aces. That's the most digs Kot has posted since back in November of 2024. Brooke Marshall also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assists of the season.

Mercer Island's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Issaquah, their win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-2.

Mercer Island has already played their next matchup, a 3-1 victory against Bothell/Inglemoor on the 25th. As for Issaquah, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Lake Washington on the 23rd.
