Preview: Cocoa Tigers vs. Timber Creek Wolves
Two dominant guards in Gianna Conklin-Jones and Karishma Ortiz are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Cocoa Tigers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Timber Creek Wolves at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Cocoa will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 156th, while Timber Creek is ranked 41st).
Cocoa unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Monday. They had to suffer through a rough 54-20 loss at the hands of Palm Bay. The low total for Cocoa ended their streak of high-flying scores.
Timber Creek posted their biggest win since December 12, 2023 on Thursday. They blew past University 60-35. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Timber Creek has posted against University since December 6, 2018.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Timber Creek to victory, but perhaps none more so than Serene Exalant, who scored 11 points along with five steals. Exalant hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Ortiz, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Cocoa's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-8. As for Timber Creek, they pushed their record up to 13-8 with that win, which was their eighth straight at home.
