Softball Recap: Hubbard Takes a Loss

Hubbard was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Mart Panthers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-6 last Tuesday.

Keagan Boyd made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Haley McClinton also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Hubbard's loss dropped their record down to 9-6-2. As for Mart, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-9.

Hubbard wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 2-1 victory against Dawson on the 31st. As for Mart, they will take on Axtell at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Axtell will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Mart surely won't give up without a fight.
