Preview: Chapin Huskies vs. Andress Eagles
The Chapin Huskies will head out on the road to face off against the Andress Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Chapin focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Tuesday.
Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 16 to 8 on the offensive boards, a fact Chapin proved. They snuck past El Paso with a 47-42 victory.
Chapin got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Samantha Wise out in front who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Wise is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. Autumn Blackwell was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Andress suffered their biggest defeat since December 2, 2023 on Tuesday. They were dealt a 61-26 loss at the hands of Burges. While losing is never fun, Andress can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 800th, while Burges is ranked 144th).
Chapin's win bumped their record up to 9-16. As for Andress, their loss dropped their record down to 12-14.
Chapin couldn't quite finish off Andress when the teams last played back in November of 2023 and fell 38-36. Can Chapin avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
