Volleyball Recap: Don Soffer Aventura Find Success

Don Soffer Aventura's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Franklin Academy Panthers by a score of 3-1. This was a revenge game for the Barracuda: when they faced off against the Panthers back in March, they had to take a 3-1 defeat.

Don Soffer Aventura walked away with the victory (and looked especially good in the first set). Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 25-22, 24-26, 25-22.

Andre Gratzer paced Don Soffer Aventura's offense, picking up 20 kills. Gratzer got some help from Josiah Olacio and his 20 assists. Gratzer was also a major player on defense: he and Artem Voronov shared the team lead in blocks, finishing with five each.

Despite the loss, Franklin Academy still got an impressive performance from Enrique Fernadez, who had 42 digs. With that strong performance, Fernadez is now averaging an impressive 11.7 digs per game. Miguel Villacis was another key player, getting 15 digs.

Don Soffer Aventura's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-12. As for Franklin Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-8 record this season.
