It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Hays ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Lockhart Lions, sneaking past 5-4. The win continues a trend for the Hawks in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won seven in a row.
Makayla Munoz spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on five hits and racked up 15 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
