Basketball Recap: Alicia Barajas' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Holy Family over University

Holy Family was the 51-43 winner over University when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Holy Family Tigers lost to the University Bulldogs at home by a 53-38 margin on Monday. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Alicia Barajas, who posted nine points. Another player making a difference was Priya Lucas, who put up seven points and ten boards.

University was led to victory by Addison Harding and Natalie Trujillo. Harding dropped a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds, while Trujillo had 11 points and five boards. Thanks to that strong game, Trujillo now owns an excellent 45.3% field goal percentage. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddie McNair, who scored nine points.

Holy Family's loss dropped their record down to 13-8. As for University, the win keeps them at an undefeated 21-0.

Holy Family has already played their next game, an 82-33 victory against The Classical Academy on the 28th. As for University, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 58-56 win against Highland on the 26th.
