Softball Game Preview: Mt. Hebron Vikings vs. Hammond Golden Bears

The Mt. Hebron Vikings are taking a road trip to face off against the Hammond Golden Bears at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Mt. Hebron has four straight victories, Hammond has seven straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Mt. Hebron will bounce into Wednesday's game after beating Marriotts Ridge, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. The Vikings skirted past Marriotts Ridge 11-9.

Meanwhile, Hammond started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Centennial. They lost 19-8 to the Eagles on Tuesday.

Mt. Hebron's win was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Hammond, their loss dropped their record down to 1-8.

Mt. Hebron took their win against Hammond in their previous matchup back in April of 2022 by a conclusive 13-4 score. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Golden Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
