Baseball Game Preview: Dan River Wildcats vs. Gretna Hawks

The Dan River Wildcats will face off against the Gretna Hawks at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Friday, Dan River made easy work of William Campbell and carried off a 9-2 win. The victory continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Generals: they've now won four in a row.

Meanwhile, Gretna never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They came out on top against Nelson County by a score of 3-0.

Gretna saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Blake Dalton, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Wyatt Walden was another, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases.

Dan River's win bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Gretna, they picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 2-6.

Dan River skirted past Gretna 1-0 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Hawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
