Basketball Recap: Green Mountain Comes Up Short in High-Profile Game with Twin Valley

On Thursday, Green Mountain faced Twin Valley in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Green Mountain Chieftains were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 53-52 to the Twin Valley Wildcats. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Chieftains this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 58-52 back in December of 2024.

Twin Valley found their leader in sophomore Brayden Brown, who went 9 for 14 on his way to 23 points and three steals. The game was Brown's tenth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Steven Oyer, who posted six points along with 15 boards and seven assists.

Green Mountain's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Twin Valley, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Green Mountain has already played their next match (against Leland & Gray), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Twin Valley will take on Rivendell Academy at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Twin Valley is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.8 points per game this season.
